They say the best spots in town are the ones your Instagram faves snap pictures from but will never tag, geo-tag or even reply the dreaded “Where is this place?” question. If you’re ever looking for a place to eat, enjoy the perfect sundowner, shop to your heart’s content, or make sure you always look your best (no filter), ’The Edit’ is your guaranteed insider.
Neema Nouse is the personification of every type of goal: fashion goals, hair goals, aesthetic goals. Ever wondered what sophistication-meets-eccentricness-meets-effortlessness looks like? The Psychology graduate has successfully parlayed her personal style into a digital career with her blog, Nouse Lifestyle, and beautifully curated Instagram, working with brands such as Mimco, Woolworths, Spree, Poetry, and Clinique.
The cool and collected Nouse gives us an inside look at her favourite spots for eating, relaxing and hair in and around Johannesburg.
My love for this once fairly unknown hidden gem is 30% its cosy aesthetic and 70% it looks a lot like my future home. Perfect for summer days, the outside garden/pool area and amazing cocktails are ideal for easy Sunday afternoons to ease you back into the week ahead.
Exclusive Books: Social Kitchen and Bar
This cool quirky style restaurant and bar is an old favourite of mine. I’m a sucker for comfort and beautiful spaces and this spot gives me both. I also love being alone from time to time so the EB Social Kitchen and Bar offers a beautiful escape into Milk and Honey or whatever other book I’m reading at that time.
There is no place like home. Especially when home is a 30 minute drive away from all the noise and is immerged in a country style development with stables and bird parks and all your favourite people.
An oldie but a goodie! I generally like to take full advantage of my lunch break and go to places like Egg Go Bar or Paul Bakery/Café, but on days when time is just not on my side – which is most days – Woolies Café is my go-to. Quick access to the harvest table and a tall chai latte and I’m good.
Hair On Cedar
My go to hair salon for when I want to transform my baby afro into bone straight hair – when the daily LOC system is enough and I just can’t Wash-Day.
